OS X standalone viewer
The OS X native version of the standalone viewer that is already available for Windows is basically done. I am waiting for a go ahead from macromedia, since it uses some files that I can not release yet.
Initial testing is very promising; performance is good on well-equiped hardware (Macs that just barely run Panther are using up some resources SPi-V needs as well), and stability is great! Hopefully, the Shockwave plugin will one day be as stable (or is it Safari that makes it instable?).
On a related note, could anyone on a Mac confirm my problems with the zip-archives available on the downloads page? If you're seeing garbled names and files, have you ever seen something like that before? Do you know a fix, other than using MacZipit?

Great to hear about an OS X s
Great to hear about an OS X standalone viewer. I'll give it a once over on my laptop (Powerbook G3 / 400 MHz / OS X.3.5) which would be one of the 'barely run Panther' machines to which you refer - though it does do it pretty good.
I'm guessing it may be a Safari and Shockwave compatibility issue, but I really know nothing about this.
I downloaded the standalone Windows viewer (zip file) using Safari on my Mac and had no problems unstuffing it and viewing the files. Though I couldn't run the EXE file for some lame reason... :)

Landis, could you give one of the other downloads a try? Each of the demo links on the downloads page leads to a page with a description, a link to the demo in the browser and a link to download an archive.
Please test eg this download:

About the machines which 'barely run Panther', if SPi-V displays the panorama in Safari, even if it is just for a little while, it will display in the standalone viewer too, only stable and in the correct location ;-)
The plot thickens...
Results unzipping on OS X so far:
Odd, very odd.
Fixed!
The zip download on MacOS X bug should now be fixed. Whoopie! Files download and decompress automatically in Safari, no more problems.
(You still wont be able to run the exe version on your powerbook Landis, sorry... Just be a liiitle more patient ;-) )
